Buoyant Chris itching to sting Homeboyz

Chirs Ochieng' celebrates his goal against Kakamega Homeboyz in the Round 17 match with teammate Chrispin Oduor. Ochieng' is eager to score against them in the return leg slated for Wednesday 2 August.

After scoring his maiden league goal against Kakamega Homeboyz, Chris Ochieng’ is looking to score against them once again when we lock horns at the Ruaraka Stadium in the return leg slated for Wednesday 2 August.

Ochieng’, who joined the team in January 2017 after impressing during a two week trial, put gloss on his man of the match performance with a fantastic goal in the 71st minute after being played through by Chrispin Oduor.

Chrispin’s impact

“When Chrispin passed the ball to me he shouted “target” so I decided to shoot towards goal even though I was at a tight angle. I didn’t know if I had scored until I saw the reaction on his (Chrispin’s) face. His voice played a very big role in the goal because I actually wanted to play the ball square into the box for somebody else to score,” revealed Chris.

His goal looked destined to be the winner until the 88th minute when substitute Wycliffe Ochomo restored parity from the spot after referee Nyabera Libese awarded the hosts a dubious penalty. While Chris admits that he was disheartened by the final result, he is keen to make amends tomorrow.

“I am happy that I scored my first goal but it was disappointing that we did not win. Goals are only important if they help the team to win. I have been improving with every game and that goal gives me confidence moving forward.

Top scorer

“I will be coming up against the same defence and from what I saw in the first leg I know they are beatable. My target is to score in every game because I still want to be the t0p scorer in the league. We are not just participants in this league. We are competitors and we will show that tomorrow,” added the buoyant student of Law at the University of Nairobi.
