Kinyanjui: Homeboyz can win the title
As we count down the clock to our round 12 KPL tie against Kakamega Homeboyz set for Friday in Machakos, winger James Kinyanjui has spoken out on the threat that Nicholas Muyoti’s men pose, believing that they are one of few teams this season with a realistic chance of going all the way and lifting the title.
“Homeboyz are a really really good team with experienced players and an experienced coach. They have all the right ingredients that can help them lift the title and it is no surprise that they are among the teams on the top half of the table,” he said.
Homeboyz, who have been lethal going forward with 17 goals so far, sit in 6th place with 17 points, tied with five other teams including Mathare United who lie in 4th place and tomorrow’s 1PM kickoff will be determined by the side that makes the least mistakes according to Kinyanjui.
“We have to be cautious against them, play our football the best way we know how and at the same time be extra keen. We know we can get a result against them but it will all be down to us avoiding mistakes.”
The Passenga High School alumni has been key to our forays going forward in matches and has chipped in with a goal and an assist so far, both of which came in the 4-1 win over Chemelil Sugar last time out. He could be even further ahead on the assists if not for the disqualification of Sony Sugar, who he managed two assists against in our 3-2 win earlier in the month.
“The goal against Chemelil has given me a lot of confidence and I want to score even more and help the team achieve its targets.
“We are all playing at a high level and the goals have been spread out across the team which is an even bigger advantage for us,” he said.
The game against Homeboyz will be the only fixture played on Friday and a win at the Kenyatta Stadium will lift us up to second on the log with 20 points.
