Mathare United lost their first match of the season after going down 2-1 to Mount Kenya United at the Afraha Stadium on Saturday.

Chrispin Oduor found the breakthrough from the spot in the 40th monute after Cliff Nyakeya was brought down in the box by Mt Kenya custodian Phillip Odhiambo.

Peter Amani drew the hosts level with a solid header at the brink of half time. With only three minutes remaining, Amani scored his second through a penalty.

His initial effort, awarded following a handball in our box, was saved by David Okello but he was clipped by Andrew Juma as he went for the rebound.

Referee Nyabera Libese called for another penalty and Amani kept his calm to successfully drive home the winner.

This is our first loss of the season but we still remain top with 24 points.
