Mathare United releases three players

Striker Chris Ochieng is one of three players released by Mathare United in the current mid-season transfer window

Mathare United has revealed a list of the players that it has released in the current mid-season transfer window.

The club has parted ways with three players namely; Samuel Semo, Wilson Anekeya and Christopher Ochieng.

Semo leaves the club after one year having joined at the start of 2019 while Ochieng who joined in 2017 leaves after the expiration of his contract.

Anekeya on his part leaves after five months with the team having joined at the start of the season.

Head coach Salim Ali thanked the players for giving their all in the time they were with the club and wished them the best in their future endeavours.

“I am grateful to have had these three players here with me but as is the nature of the game, such things are inevitable. I would like to thank them for their professionalism and at the same time wish them well in the next step of their careers,” Salim said.

At the same time, striker Clifford Alwanga and midfielders Alphonse Ndonye and Tyson Otieno have penned contract renewals. Alwanga and Ndonye will be at the club for the next year while Otieno will remain to be a Slum Boy for the next year and a half.
