Mboya Seeks Ramadhan Inspiration Against Homeboyz
Mathare United custodian Robert Issa Mboya is optimistic that the Holy month of Ramadhan will usher in better fortunes starting with Saturday’s encounter against Kakamega Homeboyz.
Mboya, who rejoined the club in January from Kariobangi Sharks, has had a shaky start to the season that has seen him keep only 4 clean sheets in 14 matches.
However he believes that Ramadhan will not only present an opportunity to reflect on his performances but also a fresh start as he looks to improve his clean sheet record with an eye on the Golden Glove award.
“Ramadhan means a lot to me as a Muslim. It is a time to get closer to Allah and reflect on my spiritual life. I am also looking at it as a time where I want to be perfect spiritually and also on the pitch,” said Mboya.
Having kept a clean sheet in the last match against Bandari, Mboya is keen on replicating his man of the match performance at Bukhungu as we look to snap our five match winless run.
“Playing Homeboyz away has always been a tricky fixture but we have to get something to realize our targets for the first leg as a team.
“This is a new beginning. I want to keep clean sheets in the remaining matches of the first leg to boost my chances of being the best goalkeeper in the league. If I keep 15 or 16 clean sheets, I can make it to the podium,” he added.
