'No preseason favours for Wazito!' warns Oduor

Mathare United captain Chrispin Oduor in action in a past league match at the Ruaraka Grounds.

Mathare United captain Chrispin Oduor has promised Wazito they will meet a different team from the side they thrashed 4-1 in a preseason friendly in August when they locks horns at Kasarani on Saturday.

Oduor has missed the last three matches due to injury but he is likely to return against the moneybags who start as favourites having never lost to the Slum Boys.

Saturday’s game will be the third meeting between the two teams. During the 2018 camapign, Wazito's debut campaign in the top tier, they picked four points off us courtesy of a 1-0 win away and a 3-3 draw at home.

Different circumstances

“It is true we have not had the best of outings against them (Wazito) but we will meet tomorrow under different circumstances. The preseason game was just that, a preseason game and nothing was at stake,” said Oduor.

In Oduor's absence, Kevin Kimani has ensured the team remain unbeaten having picked five points from the last three. Oduor believes the good run is a motivation heading into this tricky encounter.

“We have played against them in the past and know that the game will be a tough one. But we also know what we are capable of and go into the game buoyed by our recent performances,” he offered.

“We have been working hard in training the whole week and everyone is locked and ready for the game against Wazito which we are targeting nothing short of a win,” asserted Oduor, the only surviving member of the 2008 title-winning squad.

It remains to be seen whether Salim Ali will draft Oduor into his first eleven for this match. Tickets for the game will retail at a flat rate of Sh200.
