Mathare United captain Chrispin Oduor has called for character ahead of Sunday’s clash with Sofapaka at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Batoto Ba Mungu inflicted the heaviest defeat on the Slum Boys this season on February 12 where they emerged 4-1 winners in the first leg played at Kasarani.

Oduor insists that they have to produce their A game to get a good result against the hosts who are currently second on the log, nine points above them.

High scoring

“It’s always a high scoring encounter between us so we have to be at our best from the onset. We’ve showed great team spirit in our last two games, it’s important we carry that into this game,” began Oduor.

“The fact that they are above us on the table is enough motivation for us. The mood in camp is great and everybody is ready to put in a great shift,” he added.

It’s been eight matches since Mathare United kept a clean sheet. Oduor reckons they have to be tight against a side that has scored 38 goals in 25 matches.

“Defensively we have to be cautious. We conceded early in the first leg and it was difficult to recover. We can’t afford to give them too much space since on a good day they can be ruthless,” warned the skipper.
