Omondi: Posta need three points as do we

Francis Omondi says that Sunday’s Kenyan Premier League (KPL) round 22 encounter between Mathare United and Posta Rangers in Narok will be decided by fine margins as both teams head to the tie off of disappointing results in their last outings.

“It is going to be a cracker of a game because we know we will go out trying to get the win which is what Posta will try to do as well. Both teams haven’t had the best of results lately and tomorrow’s game provides the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways and of course the team that makes the least mistakes is the one that will carry the day,” the combative midfielder said.

Goal difference

Both teams are currently tied on 29 points each but 9th place Mathare have the slight advantage thanks to a superior goal difference over Posta who sit 10th. The two teams also suffered similar 3-1 upsets in their last outings with Mathare falling away to Bandari FC and Posta succumbing to KCB.

A win for Salim Ali’s men can have them move up one place to 8th on the log and Omondi believes his teammates are more than capable of securing the win which hopefully can trigger a positive stretch.

Not happy

“As a team we are not happy with our league placing, we believe we should be higher up the table. But we have dropped too many points that we should not have dropped in the first place and hopefully we can rectify this starting with tomorrow’s game,” he said.

Mathare are unbeaten in the last four matches against the Mailmen, winning three of those. The first-leg tie played in November ended in a 0-0 share of the spoils in Machakos.
