Seda, Wise elated at contract extension

Edward Seda dribbles the ball in a past training session at the Goan Institute grounds. The midfielder has been handed a one year contract extension alongside skipper George Owino.

Mathare United skipper George “Wise” Owino and midfielder Edward Seda have expressed their delight at renewing their contracts with the club on Friday 23 June.

The duo, whose contracts were set to expire at the end of June 2017, were both handed a one year extension that will see them remain at the club until June 2018.

Seda, who recently recovered from a nagging ankle injury that kept him out of action for the entire first leg, termed the new deal as a morale booster ahead of his imminent return in the second leg.

Second chance

“I am very happy to have renewed my contract because it shows that the club has full confidence in me. This is a second chance that has been given to me and I want to work harder to ensure we have a better second leg,” said Seda.

On his part, team captain George Owino reiterated his commitment towards guiding the team to a Top 9 finish adding that he is nowhere close to retirement despite turning 36 on April 4.

Keep going

“I still have the energy to keep on going but the condition of our pitches make it a bit difficult. I beleive I still have a few more years left before I hang up my boots. I want to help the team come out of the relegation zone then from there we can think of finishing inside the top half of the table. It is one game at a time for us,” opined Owino.
